Home My WebLink About~Master - Special Election for increase in Hotel/Motel Tax RESOLUTION NO. 05-050 RESOLUTION CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO INCREASE THE HOTEL AND MOTEL TAX IN THE CITY OF ANTES, IOWA BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa that a special election shall be held pursuant to Chapter 422A Code of Iowa with respect to the following public measure: "Shall the City of Ames,Iowa,be authorized to increase its hotel and motel tax from the rate of 5%to a rate of 7%,the proceeds of said tax to be used as follows: a)five(5)percentage points to fund the Ames Convention and Visitor's Bureau, b) one (1) percentage point to replace revenues to the City from the local option tax, and c)one(1) percentage point for the City of Ames economic development projects." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proposed date of the said election is April 5,2005, and that the City Clerk shall give notice thereof,along with the complete text of the above stated public measure,to the County Auditor, as the County Commissioner of Elections, all as provided by Section 47.6 Code of Iowa.
