HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Telephone Service Agreement with Qwest RESOLUTION NO. 05-005 RESOLUTION APPROVING TELEPHONE SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH QWEST FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the Ames Electric Services Department has 14 Qwest telephone(Centrex 21) lines that go into the Power Plant and connect to the Porche Outage Reporting System; and, WHEREAS, this system is a computer that logs power outage telephone calls, plays back messages about the outage, and identifies electric customers by comparing the incoming telephone information with the utility billing system; and, WHEREAS, the current contract for this service is up for renewal; and, WHEREAS, Qwest Centrex service provides caller ID which is needed because the main City telephone system does not provide caller ID information; and, WHEREAS,the telephone service is available in a 12-36 or 37-60-month option,and the 37- month option will result in a savings of$2,323.44 over the three-year period; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the 37-month Telephone Service Agreement with Qwest to provide Centrex 21 telephone service for the Power Plant at a cost of$4,450.32 per year is hereby approved.
