HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Bandshell improvement funding agreement RESOLUTION NO. 04-552 RESOLUTION APPROVING BANDSHELL IMPROVEMENT FUNDING AGREEMENT WITH THE AMES FOUNDATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, during the past eight years, a private fund-raising effort has been underway to make improvements to the Bandshell; and, WHEREAS,between 1996 and 1999, minimal success was realized in trying to generate$380,000 toward a$480,000 project(with the City funding$100,000); and, WHEREAS,to assist in moving this effort forward,the Ames Foundation became involved in 1999; and, WHEREAS, during the past four years,members of the Foundation determined that renovating the basement into a year-round, handicap accessible public meeting space was not warranted, and it retained architects to determine new cost estimates that now total $328,000; and, WHEREAS,the Foundation has been successful in raising$228,000 and requests that the City accept this funding and authorize expending up to $100,000 in City funding; and, WHEREAS, the Foundation further requests that the City retain its architect, Rudi-Lee-Dreyer, to administer and review bid documents and for construction administration services once the bid is awarded; and, WHEREAS, the cost for these services will not exceed $15,000 and are included in the $328,000 project budget; and, WHEREAS, the City Attorney has prepared a funding agreement between the City and The Ames Foundation, and this agreement stipulates specific terms of the Foundation's funding a significant portion of this project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Bandshell Improvement Funding Agreement between the City of Ames and The Ames Foundation is hereby approved.
