HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for Water Distribution System Update Study RESOLUTION NO. 04-453 RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM UPDATE STUDY FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,a comprehensive study of the water distribution system was completed in 1999,and at that time, tests were made throughout the system, and a representative computer model was created; and, WHEREAS, this model is used to identify deficiencies in the existing system and to project changes and extensions in water distribution based on projected growth; and, WHEREAS,the major recommendation of the study was to convert the distribution system from a single-pressure to a two-pressure system; and, WHEREAS,the study is important to confirm that the new system is fully operating as planned, and it will assure that optimal pressures are being provided in the growth area; and, WHEREAS,the study will also update requirements for projected extensions of the system which will help City staff more efficiently assist developers with projected infrastructure needs in the development areas; and, WHEREAS,six proposals to provide engineering services have been received and evaluated by staff; and, WHEREAS,it was determined that Stanley Consultants,Inc.,of Des Moines,Iowa,wouldprovide the most effective engineering services for the project; and, WHEREAS, the cost of the proposed contract is not to exceed$55,100. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Professional Services Agreement with Stanley Consultants,Inc.,of Des Moines,Iowa,for the Water Distribution System Update Study in the amount not to exceed$55,100 is hereby approved.
