HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - TSIP grant application for West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 04-449 RESOLUTION APPROVING A TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (TSIP) GRANT APPLICATION FOR WEST LINCOLN WAY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS (FRANKLIN AVENUE/LINCOLN WAY) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, included in the current Capital Improvement Plan is a project to plan and acquire land for intersection improvements at Franklin Avenue and Lincoln Way; and, WHEREAS, engineering and construction is included in the 2006/07 Capital Improvement Plan; and, WHEREAS, to cover some of the costs of this $1,130,000 project, the City has prepared a Traffic Safety Improvement Program Grant Application under the site-specific category for $500,000; and, WHEREAS, this project includes adding left-turn lanes on Lincoln Way to reduce left-turn accidents; and, WHEREAS, it will also include overhead traffic signal displays for every lane of traffic on both Franklin Avenue and Lincoln Way. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Traffic Safety Improvement Program Grant Application to the Iowa Department of Transportation in the amount of$500,000 for the West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements at Franklin Avenue and Lincoln Way is hereby approved.
