RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR
2005/06 CYRIDE ROUTE RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM
(WELCH AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS - STORM STREET TO HUNT STREET)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the 2004/09 Capital Improvements Plan(CIP)scheduled the reconstruction of
Welch Avenue in the 2005/06 CyRide Route Reconstruction Program; and,
WHEREAS, this annual program is for reconstruction of various streets in the community
that were constructed of concrete and are not experiencing accelerated deterioration; and,
WHEREAS,due to current staffing levels and workload,a request for competitive proposals
to provide engineering services was sent out,and 10 responses were returned and evaluated by staff;
and,
WHEREAS, it was determined that Veenstra and Kimm, Inc., of West Des Moines, Iowa,
would provide the most effective engineering services for the project; and,
WHEREAS,the cost of the proposed engineering services contract is not to exceed$46,940.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the engineering services agreement with Veenstra and Kimm, Inc., for the 2005/06 CyRide
Route Reconstruction Program(Welch Avenue from Storm Street to Hunt Street)in an amount not
to exceed $46,940 is hereby approved
ADOPTED THIS 14th day of September, 2004.
