HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Waiver of fees for High School Homecoming Parade RESOLUTION NO. 04-387 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF ELECTRICAL AND POLICE CHARGES FOR AMES HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday, October 4, 2004 (with a rain date of October 6, 2004); and, WHEREAS, the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Bandshell Park, proceed west on Fifth Street, south on Clark Avenue, and east through the CBD lot back to Bandshell Park; and, WHEREAS,to help facilitate this event,Duff Avenue will be closed from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. from just south of the railroad tracks to Sixth Street; and, WHEREAS,barricades will be placed on streets along this route for traffic control purposes, and they will be staffed by adult volunteers; and, WHEREAS,police assistance will be needed at the two Duff Avenue intersections at Fifth and Main Streets to direct traffic; and, WHEREAS, organizers are also requesting that the costs for police assistance and traffic control devices be waived. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that waiver of the costs for police assistance and traffic control devices for the Ames High School Homecoming Parade is hereby approved.
