HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Administration of vouchers for Section 8 Program RESOLUTION NO. 04-384 RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDS TO COVER ANY SHORTFALL IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE COST AND ADMINISTERING 189 VOUCHERS FOR THE CITY'S SECTION 8 PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,Housing Coordinator Vanessa Baker Latimer advised that on May 18,2004,the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) notified the City that they would be implementing changes to the funding of the Housing Choice Voucher Program(Rental Assistance) resulting from the Federal Fiscal Year 2004 Consolidated Appropriations Act; and, WHEREAS,according to Ms.Baker Latimer,HUD has now authorized funding for only the first six months of the fiscal year, and the amount authorized will only support the administration of 189 vouchers, even through the City's current contract allocation is 202 units. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the allocation of funds to cover any shortfall in the administrative cost and the administration of 189 vouchers based on the reduced HUD budget through the end of the fiscal year is hereby approved.
