RESOLUTION APPROVING PROGRAM CONCEPTS IN CONNECTION WITH
THE 2004/05 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN PROJECTS FOR
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) PROGRAM
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,on August 18,2004,the City received notification from the Department of Housing
and Urban Development(HUD)that the City's Consolidated Plan and the 2004/05 Annual Action Plan
has been approved and incorporated into the Grant Agreement between the City of Ames and HUD;and,
WHEREAS,the Grant Agreement outlines that the City of Ames will receive$589,000 for the
FY July 1,2004,through June 30,2005,to implement the following approved Action Plan Projects: 1)
Deposit Assistance Program; 2) Minor Repair Assistance Program for Non-Profits; 3) Minor Repair
Assistance Program for Single Family Units;4)Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance Program;
5)Acquisition/Reuse Program; and, 6) Curb Accessibility Program; and,
WHEREAS, staff has been working to create eligibility criteria for each of the programs to be
implemented; and,
WHEREAS, in order to expedite the implementation of the programs, staff utilized program
criteria from similar programs administered in the past and consulted with other entitlement cities
regarding their criteria for similar types of programs that they administer; and,
WHEREAS, at this time, staff is presently major program concepts for the first four approved
action plan projects; and,
WHEREAS, implementation of activities 5 and 6 will be delayed until the success of the first
four activities is determined.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that
the program concepts in connection with the 2004/05 Annual Action Plan Projects for the City's
Community Development Block Grant Program are hereby approved.
