HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Request to waive fee for scuba diving training for Boy Scouts RESOLUTION NO. 04-316 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF FEE FOR INSTALLATION OF HYDRANT METER AND WATER FOR SCUBA DIVING TRAINING ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2004 BOY SCOUTS NATIONAL ORDER OF THE ARROW CONFERENCE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the 2004 National Order of the Arrow Conference will be held in Ames from July 30 to August 8, 2004; and, WHEREAS,one of the training activities to be conducted is an introduction to scuba diving, which requires an above-ground pool to be located in the parking lot at the Maple/Willow/Larch dormitories on Iowa State University property; and, WHEREAS,the fire hydrant on Lincoln Way south of the Maple/Willow/Larch parking lot needs to be used to fill the pool with approximately 30,000 gallons of water on July 30; and, WHEREAS, Conference coordinators have submitted a plan for neutralizing the chemicals used in the pool at the conclusion of the training,which has been approved by the Director of Water and Pollution Control; and, WHEREAS, Conference advisors have requested a waiver of the fees for installation of a hydrant meter and usage of 30,000 gallons of water for this event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request for a waiver of fees associated with installation of a hydrant meter and usage of 30,000 gallons of water for the 2004 National Order of the Arrow Conference scuba diving training is hereby approved.
