HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closure for Wheatsfield Grocery's 30th Anniversary Celebration RESOLUTION NO. 04-314 RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE FOR WHEATSFIELD GROCERY'S 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,Wheatsfield Grocery,413 Douglas Avenue,is planning a celebration to be held on August 21, 2004, in observance of 30 years of service to the Ames community; and, WHEREAS, to help facilitate this celebration, it is being requested that Douglas Avenue from the alley to Fifth Street be closed from 7:00 a.m. until midnight; and, WHEREAS,a variety of events,including children's activities,live music,food vendors,an historical exhibit depicting Wheatsfield's history, and an art display by members and staff will be held in this closed section of the street; and, WHEREAS,organizers of the event have agreed to purchase parking meter bags,therefore, no waiver of fees is being requested; and, WHEREAS, affected businesses adjacent to and across the street from the grocery have signed a letter of support for this event. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the closure of Douglas Avenue from Fifth Street south to the alley on August 21, 2004, from 7:00 a.m.until midnight for Wheatsfield Grocery's 30t''Anniversary celebration activities is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 27t''day of July, 2004. Diane R.
