HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 2004/05 funding contract with American Red Cross RESOLUTION NO. 04-307 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ANNUAL FUNDING CONTRACT FOR 2004/05 AND RETROACTIVELY REALLOCATING 2003/04 FUNDS FROM HELP CENTRAL TO DISASTER SERVICES FOR AMERICAN RED CROSS, LINCOLN WAY CHAPTER, FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,during the 2004/05 ASSET review process,the ASSET volunteers recommended that funding of the Red Cross Help Central program be terminated during the 2004/05 year; and, WHEREAS, this recommendation came as a result of the decision at the state level to implement the statewide"211"information and referral system in Story County through ISU Extension; and, WHEREAS, in May 2004, Red Cross approached ASSET with the possibility of ending the Help Central service program by July 1, reviewing its 2004 budget, and making revisions to more accurately reflect fixed costs in the remaining programs; and, WHEREAS,the Red Cross is requesting that the City Council retroactively amend the 2003/04 annual ASSET contract to allow for the reallocation of $3,965.42 from Help Central to Disaster Services; and, WHEREAS, Red Cross states that as an agency, it did provide services to Ames residents in the area of Disaster Services beyond the original allocation of City funds to that program; and, WHEREAS,since that contract and year have expired,it would increase the 2004/05 allocation from the City of Ames Disaster Services to $20,201; and, NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the annual funding contract for 2004/05 with the Lincoln Way Chapter of the American Red Cross in the amount of$20,201 and the retroactive reallocation of$3,965 of funds from Help Central to Disaster Services for that agency are hereby approved.
