RESOLUTION ACCEPTING IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT CRITICAL
INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM GRANT AWARD
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the state of Iowa has received approximately$2.6 million to support protection
of critical infrastructure; and,
WHEREAS,the Critical Infrastructure Protection Program is a one-year project designed to
assist local communities with expenses associated with homeland security planning, training, and
security; and,
WHEREAS, half of those funds are being allocated to the ten largest municipalities within
the state, and the City of Ames has been awarded$130,000; and,
WHEREAS,by accepting this funding from the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and
Emergency Management,the City would be obligated to use the$130,000 for security planning and
various City facility security enhancements; and,
WHEREAS, there is no matching fund requirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Critical Infrastructure
Protection Program award of$130,000 is hereby accepted.
ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of June, 2004.
