HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract extension for 2004/05 Hauling of Ferrous Metals RESOLUTION NO. 04-186 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT EXTENSION FOR 2004/05 HAULING OF FERROUS METALS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,this contract includes furnishing trailer services and hauling ferrous metals from the Resource Recovery Plant to AMG Resource Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota; and, WHEREAS, the contract has a provision to cancel it if this type of service is no longer needed because of a change in disposal procedures; and, WHEREAS, the original contract involved the period from December 1, 201,through June 30, 2003,with three 12-month extensions contingent upon Council approval of funding; and, WHEREAS,due to changes at the Resource Recovery Plant allowing for more ferrous metals to be recovered,the 2004/05 operating budget includes $66,250 for this second extension period of July 1, 2004,through June 30,2005; and, WHEREAS, due to the excellent market for the ferrous metals, revenues over this same period are expected to total $83,450; and, WHEREAS, the bid price is adjustable for each extension period based on the diesel fuel price index as determined by the Iowa Department of Transportation, and the adjustment is calculated using the percent of the bid price that the contractor indicated on his bid based on fuel cost; and, WHEREAS,total cost of the contract is dependent on tonnage hauled,and the budget amount will haul approximately 2,050 tons. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract extension for 2004/05 hauling of ferrous metals for the Resource Recovery Plant with Waste Management of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$.0703 per mile per ton is hereby approved subject to approval of funding by the Council.
