HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for Downtown Farmers Market RESOLUTION NO.04-151 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF AMES AND THE AMES DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET ASSOCIATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,representatives from the Ames Downtown Farmers Market Association met with City staff to discuss the possible relocation of the Market to portions of the City parking lot east of City Hall(Lot N)and the portion of Clark between 5t"and 6" Streets;and, WHEREAS, the Market would operate on Thursday afternoons from 3 to 7 PM,beginning May 20 and running through October 21;and, WHEREAS,Clark Avenue will be closed to through traffic at 5'and 6'Streets during the Market's operation;and, WHEREAS,public parking in Lot N will be available on the south portion entering from 5'Street;and, WHEREAS,individuals leasing parking spaces in the lot will have access to their spaces from both the north and south entrances to Lot N;and, WHEREAS,the Association will reimburse the City$1.20/meter/day at the Market(6 hours x 20 cents per hour per meter). NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Agreement between the City and the Ames Downtown Farmers Market Association is hereby approved with the following stipulations: 1. The Association will provide the City with a certificate of insurance showing the City as an additional insured. 2. The Association will obtain incorporated status from the state as a nonprofit entity/association. 3. The Association will obtain"street closure"warning signs and Type III barricades to be used each week. The city will provide traffic cones or smaller barricades,as needed. 4. The City will issue a press release notifying the public of the Market dates and times. 5. The only electricity to be provided is that which is currently available in Lot N or on the outside of City Hall. If power is used,there will be a charge for this,based on the same calculation per outlet used on Main Street in the past. 6. A list of any vendors providing prepared foods will be submitted to the City Sanitarian for approval. ADOPTED THIS 13t"day of April,2004.
