HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Platting Agreement for Middle School 2003 Subdivision RESOLUTION NO. 04-098 RESOLUTION APPROVING PLATTING AGREEMENT FOR THE AMES MIDDLE SCHOOL 2003 SUBDIVISION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,for the past year,administrators from the City and the Ames Community School District have been working cooperatively to develop the site at Mortensen Road and State Street as a Middle School, and possibly, in the longer term, as a City Recreation/Aquatic Center; and, WHEREAS, initially, it was contemplated that the City and School District would be pursuing the two construction projects at the same time,however,with the results of the recent Rec Plex bond issue, it was evident that the School District would have to move ahead with the construction of the new Middle School; and, WHEREAS, the City hoped to reserve the possibility of constructing a Recreation/Aquatic Center on this shared site should a bond issue be passed some time in the future; and, WHEREAS,after a series of very productive discussions,the staff of the School District and the City were able to reach a consensus on the Platting Agreement; and, WHEREAS,the Platting Agreement makes it clear that should the City Council not take any official action to award a construction contract for a recreation facility on the site before June 30, 2014, the agreement by the School District to reserve land on the site for the Recreation/Aquatic Center and the City's agreement to share in the cost of the infrastructure items would terminate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the attached Platting Agreement for the Ames Middle School site is hereby approved.
