HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Engineering services agreement for Water Plant SCADA Construction RESOLUTION NO. 04-042 RESOLUTION APPROVING ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR WATER PLANT SCADA CONSTRUCTION PHASE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,on January 28,2003,the Council approved a contract with Kaeding and Associates of Minneapolis, Minnesota, to complete a conceptual design for a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA) system; and, WHEREAS, on April 22, 2003, the Council approved a contract with Kaeding to complete a detailed design for the SCADA system; and, WHEREAS,staffhas worked closelywith Kaeding and Associates during the conceptual and final design phases to develop a project that will upgrade the Water Plant's control system,portions which date back more than 40 years; and, WHEREAS, because of the understanding of Kaeding and Associates have gained during the earlier phases and the strong cooperative relationship established between the Water Plant SCADA team and the consultant's team,staff requested Kaeding to develop a proposal for construction phase services; and, WHEREAS, these services include review of shop drawings to ensure compliance with the technical specifications, periodic on-site inspection of work in progress, engineering assistance in reviewing any necessary changes to the original plans and specifications,coordination of the system start- up, and preparation of final construction record drawings at the conclusion of the project; and, WHEREAS, Kaeding has offered to provide engineering services not to exceed $58,000, plus direct costs estimated to be approximately$5,460. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the engineering services agreement with Kaeding and Associates of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for construction phase services regarding the Water Plant SCADA project in an amount not to exceed $58,000,plus direct costs estimated at$5,460, is hereby approved.
