HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - TSIP grant application for traffic signals at 6th & Duff RESOLUTION NO. 04-027 RESOLUTION APPROVING TSIP GRANT APPLICATION FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT SIXTH STREET AND DUFF AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,included in the 2004/05 Capital Improvement Plan(CIP)is a project to replace the Sixth Street and Duff Avenue traffic signal; and, WHEREAS, to cover some of the costs of this $115,000 project, the City is submitting a Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) grant application in the amount of$65,000 under the traffic control device category; and, WHEREAS, the project includes reconstructing the signal installation to include all new underground and overhead equipment; and, WHEREAS,the signal replacement is needed to enhance safety and provide a more reliable operation by replacing the older equipment installed more than 40 years ago; and, WHEREAS, it will also include overhead traffic signal displays for every lane of traffic on both Sixth Street and Duff Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the TSIP Grant Application for Traffic Signals at Sixth Street and Duff Avenue is hereby approved.
