HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - LUPP Map change for Regional Commercial Designation RESOLUTION NO. 04-024 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FOR LAND USE POLICY PLAN MAP CHANGE REGARDING REGIONAL COMMERCIAL DESIGNATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, this Land Use Policy Plan(LUPP)request is to move the existing location of the Regional Commercial land use designation from the northeast corner of the interchange of Interstate 35 and Highway 30 north to the northeast/southeast interchange of East 13t' Street and Interstate 35; and, WHEREAS,the only recommended change to the Plan is map location and is not a change in the LUPP's goals, objectives,projections, or definitions for Regional Commercial; and, WHEREAS, staff believes the new Regional Commercial Land Use Policy Plan Map designation would be more consistent with the goals and objectives as outlined in the LUPP; and, WHEREAS, the applicant's proposal provides more economic expansion opportunity, less land use conflicts,and maximizes the use of municipal services and infrastructure to a greater degree than the existing location; and, WHEREAS,the proposed map location is superior with regards to the majority of measures that were used to evaluate it against the existing map location; and, WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed this request at its meeting of December 17, 2003, and recommended that the requested LUPP Map change be denied. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to move the existing Regional Commercial Land Use Policy Plan Map designation north adjacent to the east side of Interstate 35 along East 13' Street is hereby approved.
