HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Extension of agreement for Fixed Base Services at Municipal Airport RESOLUTION NO. 04-010 RESOLUTION APPROVING THREE-YEAR EXTENSION OF AGREEMENT FOR FIXED BASE SERVICES WITH MIDWEST FLYING SERVICE OF IOWA,INC., AT THE AMES MUNICIPAL AIRPORT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on July 1, 2002, the City Council entered into an agreement with Midwest Flying Service of Iowa, Inc., to perform Fixed Base Operator(FBO) services at the Ames Municipal Airport; and, WHEREAS,this five-year contract was only approved for a two-year period to ensure the operator would place greater emphasis on creating,promoting,and enhancing a positive aviation environment to the Ames community; and, WHEREAS,in an effort to monitor this progress in promoting the airport environment,an airport users survey was developed in August 2002 and placed at various locations in the terminal for all airport users; and, WHEREAS, comments received from transient users were very favorable; and, WHEREAS,in January 2003,the survey was mailed to all local users for their comments,and a good response (39%) of the surveys was returned showing very positive services; and, WHEREAS, staff has continued to receive positive comments and has kept the survey updated; and, WHEREAS, the Airport Advisory Committee meets regularly to monitor the airport activities, and at a recent meeting, it recommended that a three-year extension of the agreement be approved. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the three-year extension of the Agreement for Fixed Base Services with Midwest Flying Service of Iowa, Inc., at the Ames Municipal Airport at the lease rates established with the initial two-year agreement is hereby approved.
