RESOLUTION APPROVING IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
AGREEMENT FOR FEDERAL FUNDING OF
2004/05 ARTERIAL STREET REHABILITATION PROGRAM
(MORTENSEN PARKWAY FROM GATEWAY HILLS PARK DRIVE
TO ELWOOD DRIVE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the 2003/08 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) scheduled the Mortensen
Parkway Rehabilitation Project in the Arterial Street Rehabilitation Program to be completed in
2004/05; and,
WHEREAS, this project is programmed in the Ames Area Metropolitan Planning
Organization's (AAMPO) 2004 Transportation Improvement Program; and,
WHEREAS, the agreement provides an Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) STP
grant in an amount not to exceed$640,000 with a local match of$160,000 funded from G.O.Bonds;
and,
WHEREAS, in order to meet the timing requirements of the IDOT for construction during
the May to August construction period, the project agreement must be approved; and,
WHEREAS, approval of this agreement does not obligate the City to complete the project,
and if the project is not budgeted for 2004/05 or bids are too high,the City retains the right to drop
the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement providing up to $640,000 in federal STP
funds for construction of the 2004/05 Arterial Street Rehabilitation Program (Mortensen Parkway
from Gateway Hills Park Drive to Elwood Drive) is hereby approved.
