HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Information campaign for Recreation/Aquatics Complex RESOLUTION NO. 03-433 RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDS FOR INFORMATION CAMPAIGN REGARDING RECREATION/AQUATICS COMPLEX FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the"Friends"group that has organized promotion of the bond referendum for the Recreation/Aquatics Complex notified staff that it will request the Council to establish December 9, 2003, as the election date for this issue; and, WHEREAS,if this date is selected,the City would have approximately six weeks to educate the public on this issue; and, WHEREAS,in order to provide the public with information regarding this project,staff has estimated that up to $6,500 will be needed to pay for advertising and printed materials; and, WHEREAS, the Council has supported these information campaigns in the past; and, WHEREAS, in addition to the printed brochure and advertising,the Public Relations office will use the City's web site, City Side, and TV 12 at no additional cost to educate citizens about the Recreation/Aquatics Complex and the upcoming bond issue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request for funds in the amount of$6,500 from the Contingency Fund to educate the public regarding the Recreation/Aquatics Complex bond election is hereby approved.
