HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - LUPP map change for Ringgenberg farm land RESOLUTION NO.03-382 RESOLUTION AMENDING LAND USE POLICY PLAN(LUPP) FOR THE AREA GENERALLY LOCATED SOUTH OF OAKWOOD ROAD,WEST OF 530TH AVENUE, AND ONE-QUARTER MILE EAST OF STATE AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the subject area is generally located south of Oakwood Road,west of 530"Avenue and one- quarter mile east of State Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the applicant has represented that the area can be effectively and efficiently served by municipal services and infrastructure and provides an area for residential expansion opportunity that would be consistent with the Land Use Policy Plan;and, WHEREAS,staff completed a comprehensive analysis of the applicant's proposed area and surrounding area, and as a result,staff is recommending that a much larger area be considered for the Village/Suburban Residential map change than what has been proposed by the applicant;and, WHEREAS, staff s recommended area encompasses approximately 290 acres;and, WHEREAS,the applicant and staff are proposing to change a 120-acre area(referred to as the Ringgenberg Farm) located west of Cedar Lane and south of Oakwood Road from Agricultural and University-Affiliated to Village/Suburban Residential and the"New Lands -All Other" services boundary on the Future Land Use Map to include the area recommended for residential expansion; and, WHEREAS, this proposal would allow for Village Residential or Suburban Residential land uses in the Southwest Growth Priority Area—the targeted growth area of the City;and, WHEREAS,the proposed land use change is consistent with the goals and policies outlined in the Land Use Policy Plan; and, WHEREAS,the Planning&Zoning Commission recommended approval of this proposal at their meeting of September 3,2003. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the Land Use Policy Plan change from"Agricultural"and"University-Affiliated"to"Village/Suburban Residential"and changing the"New Lands-All Other"services boundary on the Future Land Use Map to include the area recommended for residential expansion is hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of September,2003.
