RESOLUTION APPROVING FUNDING FOR
EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN ON
OCCUPANCY REGULATIONS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, City staff was directed by the Ames City Council in 2002 to increase
enforcement of the occupancy laws in residential low-density areas; and,
WHEREAS, the increase in enforcement also caused staff from various departments to
question what the City has been doing to educate students about zoning and occupancy laws in the
past; and,
WHEREAS, after this analysis, an education campaign was devised to help students find
information on our zoning and occupancy laws and to address other public relations concerns
surrounding this issue; and,
WHEREAS,the City of Ames public relations office created this campaign with input from
other City staff, as well as students and staff from Iowa State University.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,
that funding for an educational campaign on occupancy regulations in the amount of$6,350 is hereby
approved.
