RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT WITH
RDG TO UPDATE MASTER PLAN
AND MONITOR MIDDLE SCHOOL DESIGN
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,in July,the City Council adopted a Master Plan for a recreation/aquatics complex
that totals $23.6 million; and,
WHEREAS,the existing drawings of this facility were developed in 2001 and are not reflective
of the approved Plan; and,
WHEREAS,architectural services are needed to update these drawings so that they can be used
to educate the public about this facility prior to a bond election being held; and,
WHEREAS,the Master Plan calls for this facility to be adjoined to the School District's new
Middle School; and,
WHEREAS, the City also needs to retain architectural service to provide overview and
comments on the design of the Middle School and its related interface with the proposed
recreation/aquatics complex; and,
WHEREAS, since the School District will complete their plans and specifications for the
Middle School in November, it is critical that the City retain architectural services now so that design
issues that could affect the City's facility are taken into consideration in the Middle School's bid
document.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that
retaining RDG at a total cost not to exceed$14,500 to update the recreation/aquatic complex Master
Plan and to provide overview and comments on the design of the Middle School and its related
interface with the proposed City project is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 9'day of September, 2003.
