HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement with US Fish and Wildlife Service for prairie seed RESOLUTION NO. 03-320 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE FOR FUNDING FOR PURCHASE OF PRAIRIE SEED FOR ADA HAYDEN HERITAGE PARK FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, over the course of the next few years, 110 acres of wetlands and prairie habitat will be restored at Ada Hayden Heritage Park,and approximately 45 acres of this project is targeted at restoring mesic prairie; and, WHEREAS,the U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service has a program entitled"Partner's Program", and they are interested in partnering with the City to improve the wildlife habitat at this site; and, WHEREAS,the Partner's Program will provide$5,000 for the purchase of additional native mesic prairie seed, and this purchase would increase the overall quality of the mesic prairie; and, WHEREAS, a cooperative agreement between the Department of the Interior and the City of Ames will also provide technical assistance and service to plan and implement the restoration project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service for $5,000 in funding for the purchase of mesic seed for Ada Hayden Heritage Park is hereby approved.
