HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Change order for Water Plant Lime Sludge Disposal RESOLUTION NO. 03-291 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER FOR WATER PLANT LIME SLUDGE DISPOSAL FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on May 9, 2000, the Council awarded a five-year contract to Biosolids Management Group (BMG) of Boone, Iowa, for the Water Plant Lime Sludge Disposal; and, WHEREAS, last year, a change order was process to increase the quantity for FY 2002/03 by 10 percent,and as part of the negotiations at that time,it was proposed to extend the contract;and, WHEREAS,through more than a year of negotiations,staff worked with BMG regarding the proposed contract extension with the following terms: 1)add an additional three years to the contract term;2)quantities will be increased to 22,000 wet tons per year;3)the unit rate of$7.95/wet ton will continue through June 30, 2005; then for the additional three years, BMG has proposed a price of $8.20/wet ton; and,4)at the conclusion of the contract in 2008,the City will take ownership of the lime processing facilities constructed by BMG as part of its operations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract change order with Biosolids Management Group for lime sludge disposal is hereby approved.
