RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE OF
PUBLIC ART DONATIONS FOR SIGNAGE AT
CYNTHIA DUFF PLAZA
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, over the last two years the Public Art Commission(PAC)has coordinated the
installation of a project to install sculptural gateways into Cynthia Duff Plaza in the downtown area;
and,
WHEREAS, that work has been complemented by the creation of an urban garden by
members of the Story County Master Gardeners; and,
WHEREAS, one of the final steps in the phase of the Plaza improvement is the installation
of signage commemorating Cynthia Duffs connection to this site and recognizing those who
contributed to the success of this project; and,
WHEREAS, the PAC is now recommending that up to $2,180 in remaining donations be
used to create and install a sculptural sign for this purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,
that the expenditure of up to $2,180 in public art donations for the creation and installation of a
sculptural sign for the Cynthia Duff Plaza is hereby authorized.
ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of July, 2003.
