RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FROM
HEARTLAND SENIOR SERVICES FOR ADDITIONAL ALLOCATION
OF ASSET FUNDS FOR BUS PURCHASE
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,on May 8,the Analysis of Social Services Evaluation Team(ASSET)received
a request from the Heartland Senior Services Board for supplemental funds for its Transportation
Program; and,
WHEREAS, Heartland has the opportunity to purchase four new buses using federal funds
in combination with a local match,and the request was for the City and County to assist in providing
local funds; and,
WHEREAS, on June 12, ASSET approved a request for County dollars in the amount of
$7,000 available in its general fund; and,
WHEREAS, it was reported that City staff wished to wait for the end of the 2002/03 fiscal
year and identify any unspent ASSET allocations for possible action; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that there will be at least$5,000 unspent from ASSET contracts for
2002/03, and it is staffs recommendation that the Council allow a one-time grant of $5,000 to
Heartland Senior Services for replacement of buses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request from Heartland Senior Services for an allocation of 2002/03 ASSET funds in the
amount of$5,000 to be applied towards the purchase of up to four new buses is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 22nd day of July, 2003.
