HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Preliminary Resolution for East Avenue Paving Assessment RESOLUTION NO. 03-227 PRELIMINARY RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 384.42 OF THE IOWA CODE COVERING THE EAST AVENUE (LINCOLN WAY TO EAST 2ND STREET) PAVING PROJECT, CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable that a certain paving project in the City of Ames, Iowa, to be located as hereinafter described, be constructed in accordance with the provision of Chapter 384, Code of Iowa, and a portion of the cost thereof assessed to the property benefitted thereby; and, WHEREAS, the City has arranged for engineering services with the City's Department of Public Works in connection with said improvement, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. That the following shall be constructed as a single improvement and such improvement shall be located with terminal points and of materials and sizes as follows: Terminal Points Beginning at a point 33.0 feet East of the Southeast corner of Lot 3, Block 17 of Borne's Addition to the City of Ames and on the North Right of Way line of Lincoln Way, Story County, Iowa, thence North, a distance of 220 feet to the point of terminus said pint being 33.0 feet East of the Northeast corner of Lot 1, Block 17 of Bome's Addition to the City of Ames and on the South right of way line of East 2'd Street. Kinds and Quantities of Materials and Work 117 square yards of 6" PCC pavement and 847 square yards of 8" PCC pavement Section 2. A general description of the property or a designation of the lots which the City Council believes will be specially benefitted by the said improvement are set out on Appendix A attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof as if fully set out. Section 3. That the Engineers are hereby ordered to prepare preliminary plans and specifications, an estimated cost of the work and a plat and schedule and to file the same with the Clerk, and shall include in the estimated cost a default fund item of not to exceed 10% of the amount to be assessed against specially benefitted property. Section 4. That the improvement shall be known as the East Avenue (from Lincoln Way to East 2nd Street) paving project, and shall be so referred to in all subsequent proceedings. Section 5. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof, to the extent the same may be in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. Passed and Approved this 10th day of June , 2003. �l Diane R.
