HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - TSIP grant for Lincoln Way/Kellogg traffic signals RESOLUTION NO. 03-216 RESOLUTION APPROVING TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT AGREEMENT FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT LINCOLN WAY AND KELLOGG AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, included in the 2002/03 Capital Improvement Plan is a project to replace the Kellogg Avenue/Lincoln Way traffic signal; and, WHEREAS,to cover some of the costs of this$145,000 project,the City submitted a Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) grant application in the amount of$66,905; and, WHEREAS, after reviewing this grant submittal, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) approved the request and submitted the agreement; and, WHEREAS,as part of this project,City staff will work with the IDOT to replace the current 1 arge Downtown District directional signage that is located on the existing traffic signal support;and, WHEREAS, in addition to the TSIP grant, the City also applied for and received an Urban State Traffic Engineering Program (USTEP) grant which will cover $42,952 of the estimated cost for the new traffic signal; and, WHEREAS,the City's portion of the project is anticipated to be$35,143 and is budgeted in the Road Use Tax Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Traffic Safety Improvement Program Agreement for traffic signals at Lincoln Way and Kellogg Avenue in the amount of$66,905 is hereby approved.
