HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Suspension of parking enforcement for annual Campustown activities RESOLUTION NO. 03-176 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FOR SUSPENSION OF PARKING METER ENFORCEMENT FOR "AN EVENING IN CAMPUSTOWN"ACTIVITIES FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) is hosting the second Annual "Evening in Campustown" activities on June 5, 2003, from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, the stores will have displays on one-half of the sidewalks and many activities are planned for the evening; and, WHEREAS,the CAA is requesting suspension of parking enforcement from 5:00 p.m.until 6:00 p.m. to allow customers to park for free; and, WHEREAS, the free parking will be in the City parking lots in the Campustown Business District, including the metered parking along the following streets: Lincoln Way from Stanton Avenue to Lynn Avenue; Welch Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Knapp Street; Chamberlain Street;Hunt Street;Hayward Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Hunt Street;Stanton Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Chamberlain Street; and, Lynn Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Chamberlain Street. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, the request to suspend parking meter enforcement from 5:00 p.m.to 6:00 p.m. for the Campustown Action Association's"An Evening in Campustown"activities on June 5,2003,is hereby approved.
