HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Preferred developer for property at 623 Ninth Street RESOLUTION NO. 03-153 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMELLEN CONSTRUCTION AND SALES,INC., AS THE PREFERRED DEVELOPER FOR CITY-OWNED PROPERTY AT 623 NINTH STREET AND DIRECTING STAFF TO NEGOTIATE A DEVELOPER'S AGREEMENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, at the January 28, 2003, meeting, Council directed staff to prepare a Request for Proposals(RFP)to identify developer/builders interested in entering into a partnership with the City of Ames to develop the City-owned property at 623 Ninth Street in connection with the City's Affordable Housing Program initiatives; and, WHEREAS, on February 28, 2003,the City received one proposal from Amellen Construction and Sales,Inc.; and, WHEREAS,Amellen Construction and Sales,Inc.,has proposed to construct a 1,181 square foot, three bedroom, one bath, single-family modular home with a full basement and detached single-car garage; and, WHEREAS, the proposed sale price of the home is $151,000, and it is designed to be very adaptable for a physically-disadvantaged individual or family; and, WHEREAS,a selection team reviewed and analyzed the proposal based on the criteria outlined in the RFP; and, WHEREAS, in applying the criteria to the proposal, the team is recommending that Amellen Construction and Sales,Inc.,be selected as the preferred developer for further negotiations with the City to develop the property. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the selection ofAmellen Construction and Sales,Inc.,as the preferred developer in connection with the City's Request for Proposals for redevelopment of the City-owned property at 623 Ninth Street is hereby approved,and staff is directed to negotiate a Developer's Agreement with the aforementioned developer.
