RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH THE
STORY COUNTY CONSERVATION BOARD FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF NATURAL AREAS
AT ADA HAYDEN HERITAGE PARK
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the City of Ames and the Story County Conservation Board have a long history
of joint programming and mutual support in the maintenance and development of our respective
parks and recreation areas; and,
WHEREAS,beginning in 2004,Ada Hayden Heritage Park(AHHP)will serve as a unique
educational and recreation site and will serve residents of Ames and Story County; and,
WHEREAS, in recognition of this tremendous recreational opportunity, the County has
offered to provide "in kind" support in the development of AHHP in the form of staff expertise,
time, and the use of their specialized equipment that will be used to plant over 250 acres of prairie
and wetlands; and,
WHEREAS, this "in kind" support has a value of approximately$1 million.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,
that the Agreement with Story County Conservation Board for development of natural areas at Ada
Hayden Heritage Park is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 8'day of April, 2003.
