RESOLUTION APPROVING THE 2003/04 FIVE-YEAR
AND ANNUAL PUBLIC HOUSING AUTHORITY AGENCY PLANS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act (QHWRA) of 1998 enacted by
Congress now mandates that Public Housing Authorities(PHAs)submit to the Department of Housing and
Urban Development(HUD)yearly updates to the PHA's Annual and Five-Year Plans; and,
WHEREAS,these plans will continue to advise HUD,the City's participants,and members of the
public of the City's mission for serving the needs of low-and very low-income families and the strategy for
addressing those needs; and,
WHEREAS, these Plans are required in addition to the City's Administrative Plan; and,
WHEREAS,regulations allow PHAs that only administer tenant-based assistance and that do not
own or operate public housing units to submit a stream-lined Annual Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the stream-lined submission for fiscal year July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2004,
requires the PHA to address any substantial deviation and/or significant amendments to the Plans for the
upcoming year; and,
WHEREAS,the PHAs are encouraged to identify quantifiable measures of success in reaching its
objectives over the course of the five years; and,
WHEREAS, there are no substantial deviations made to the Five-Year Plan; and,
WHEREAS, over the past few months, goals have been addressed and objectives outlined in the
updated PHA Plan for submittal to HUD.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ames Housing Governing Board of the City of
Ames,Iowa,that submittal of the updated 2002/03 Five-Year and Annual Public Housing Authority Agency
Plans to HUD in connection with the City's Section 8 Rental Subsidy Housing Programs is hereby
approved.
