HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Reallocation of CIP Projects funding for Parks and Recreation RESOLUTION NO. 03-068 RESOLUTION APPROVING REALLOCATION OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN PROJECTS FUNDING FOR FY 2002/03 FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, certain Parks and Recreation Capital Improvements Plan (CIP)projects were completed in Fiscal Year 2002/03 with cost savings totaling $149,540; and, WHEREAS, on January 14, 2003, the City Council reallocated $25,000 of this $149,540 savings to retain an architectural firm, RDG, to complete an undated feasibility and cost analysis study for the proposed Recreation/Aquatics Complex; and, WHEREAS,the Parks and Recreation Department has the following projects that could also be accomplished with these savings: 1) drinking fountains in McCarthy Lee Park and North River Valley Park; 2)removal of Gateway Pool and Bathhouse; 3)painted cross walk and signage for the Skate Park and extension of water service to the Park; and, 4)replacement of program registration and facility reservation software; and, WHEREAS, staff is requesting that $103,000 of the $124,540 in savings from Parks and Recreation CIP projects be reallocated to complete the projects listed above. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the reallocation of$103,000 from the savings in Parks and Recreation Department CIP projects to: purchase three water fountains,install flashing lights at Sixth Street and extend water service to the Park, remove Gateway Swimming Pool and bathhouse, and purchase an upgraded program registration/facility reservation software system is hereby approved.
