HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Work plan and budget for Ada Hayden Heritage Park water quality study RESOLUTION NO. 03-046 RESOLUTION APPROVING WORK PLAN AND BUDGET FOR CONTINUATION OF THE ADA HAYDEN HERITAGE PARK WATER QUALITY STUDY WITH IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, during 2001 and early 2002, Dr. John Downing conducted water-quality monitoring in the Ada Hayden Heritage Park lakes,and a final report was submitted to Council last fall; and, WHEREAS, the report documents water quality in the lakes was better than previously anticipated; and, WHEREAS,now that a lake water-quality baseline has been established,it will be necessary to continue monitoring in the future to identify potential contamination before problems occur;and, WHEREAS, it will also be necessary to monitor tributary streams'water quality to identify contaminant loading to the lakes and treatment efficiencies of the wetland treatment sites which will be constructed in the future; and, WHEREAS,staff anticipates that monitoring must continue for several more years,although the extent of the monitoring may change from year-to-year as the lake site becomes fully developed; and, WHEREAS, staff has been working with Dr. Downing to develop a work plan and budget to continue water quality monitoring,and the agreement for this work covers the period from August 2002 to October 2003. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the proposed work plan and budget for the on-going water quality studies for the time period of August 1, 2002, through October 31, 2003, in the amount of$25,007 is hereby approved.
