HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Disposition of property at 623 Ninth Street RESOLUTION NO. 03-042 RESOLUTION APPROVING CRITERIA FOR DISPOSITION OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY AT 623 NINTH STREET IN CONNECTION WITH THE CITY'S AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM INITIATIVES FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, back in the early 1980's, the City of Ames, through the use of Community Development Block Grant(CDBG)funds,purchased the property at 623 Ninth Street to be used as a day care center for low-and moderate-income families; and, WHEREAS,Children's Services of Central Iowa leased the building from the City to operate the Ninth Street Day Care Center through the spring of 2000,however,the property has now reverted back to the City and, WHEREAS, in June 2002,the Council directed staff to devise a plan for the disposal of the Ninth Street property and include in that plan a desire for affordable housing; and, WHEREAS, before completing the Request for Proposals (RFP), staff met with the Ninth Street neighbors within 200 feet of the property to seek their comments and/or questions regarding the future use of the property; and, WHEREAS, certain sections of the RFP that relate to the component criteria are as follows: minimum requirements,minimum site requirements,minimum home design guidelines,competitive requirements, and financial incentives. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the criteria for the disposition of the City-owned property at 623 Ninth Street in connection with the City's Affordable Housing Program initiatives are hereby approved.
