RESOLUTION APPROVING MINI-GRANT CONTRACTS FOR
ART FUNDING CARRY-OVERS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,ACTORS and the India Cultural Association are two of the five organizations that
were approved for mini-grants for the fall (July 1 through December 31, 2002); and,
WHEREAS, on October 21, ACTORS requested the carry-over of$238 for reduced ticket
prices and transportation for citizens living in senior citizen apartment complexes; and,
WHEREAS,this would have covered one performance per fall show,and the ACTORS group
requested that the grant be carried over to the spring and added to a plan to provide reduced ticket
prices and transportation for seniors attending its spring shows; and,
WHEREAS, on December 2, the India Cultural Association requested the carry-over of$643
from fall to spring; and,
WHEREAS,originally,a performing company was to travel to the U.S.from India this fall and
perform in Ames as one of its stops,however, due to the current political environment,the group was
not able to obtain the needed papers to travel to the U.S.; and,
WHEREAS, the Cultural Association is proposing that the funds be used this spring to cover
the cost of a group coming from the Minneapolis area; and,
WHEREAS, both carry-overs will be within the 2002/03 fiscal year, so there will be no
budgetary impact.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that
the carry-over recommendations from the Commission On The Arts and the extension ofthe mini-grant
contracts for ACTORS and the India Cultural Association from December 31,2002,to June 30,2003,
are hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 17'h day of December, 2002.
