RESOLUTION APPROVING PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
AGREEMENT WITH HOWARD R. GREEN COMPANY
FOR EXTENSION OF GRAND AVENUE
SOUTH TO SOUTH 16TH STREET
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the Lincoln Way Corridor Study and the Transportation Master Plan provide for
a project to extend Grand Avenue from Lincoln Way south and east to South Fifth Street and Duff
Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, the 2002/03 budget calls for a study addressing the design concept and the
potential cost allocation with the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT),and the proposed Capital
Improvements Plan(CIP) for 2003/08 calls for the project construction in 2006/07; and,
WHEREAS, the 2002/03 budget allocates $37,500 of Road Use Tax for this concept study;
and,
WHEREAS, staff contacted Howard R. Green Company,which has performed many studies
of this type and has an excellent staff in the areas of expertise needed for the Study,to provide the City
with a quote to do the work; and,
WHEREAS, the Study will involve preparation of a concept design involving lane
configuration, intersection geometrics, traffic control, and other items identified as critical to the
development of a street corridor; and,
WHEREAS, Howard R. Green Company has proposed to do the Study for a lump sum price
of$36,400.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that
the Professional Services Agreement with Howard R. Green Company in the amount of$36,400 for
the Grand Avenue Extension Design Concept Study is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 26th day of November, 2002.
