HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Nuisance assessment for noxious weeds destruction RESOLUTION NO. 02-520 RESOLUTION ASSESSING COSTS OF NOXIOUS WEED DESTRUCTION AGAINST THE ABUTTING PROPERTY FOR COLLECTION IN THE SAME MANNER AS A PROPERTY TAX PURSUANT TO SECTION 364.12(3)(a)(g) AND (h), CODE OF IOWA FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,the City of Ames has served notice on the abutting property owners by certified mail to the property owners as shown by the records of the County Auditor requiring the abutting property owners to remove noxious weeds; and, WHEREAS,certain of said abutting property owners did not perform the aforesaid work as required within a reasonable time set by the City; and, WHEREAS,the City has performed the said destruction of noxious weeds and now desires to assess the costs against the abutting property for collection in the same manner as a property tax. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that pursuant to Section 364.12(3)(g) and (h), Code of Iowa, the cost of the said noxious weed destruction is assessed to the abutting property as follows: Auditor's Record Owner Cost Assessed Property Description 1. Commercial Federal Bank $163.86 119 Beach Avenue 10845 Harney Street Omaha,NE 68154-2639 The said assessment to be due and collected in the same manner as property taxes.
