HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Child Safety Seat Checks by Police Department RESOLUTION NO. 02-461 RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF PARKING REGULATIONS FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT'S CHILD-SAFETY SEAT CHECKS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,in conjunction with the upcoming"All American Weekend,"the Ames Police Department would like to conduct child safety seat checks in the west City Hall parking lot from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on August 31; and, WHEREAS,the Police Department is a participant in a state-wide effort to assure the safety of our youngest citizens in appropriate child safety seats; and, WHEREAS,two certified police officers will be conducting this program with the use of a van with appropriate equipment provided by the State; and, WHEREAS, if a seat is found to be defective or damaged in any way, a new seat will be provided to the family at no cost to either the family or the Police Department; and, WHEREAS, donations and a federal grant are used to cover the cost of the new safety seat. WHEREAS,City employees will be asked to parking official vehicles and personal vehicles in the north one-half of the west parking lot for that morning. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the suspension of parking enforcement in the City Hall west parking lot from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on August 31 to facilitate child safety seat inspections sponsored by the Ames Police Department is hereby approved.
