HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendment to Parking Meter Map RESOLUTION NO. 02-455 RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT TO PARKING METER MAP FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,representatives of Ev Cochrane and Associates have requested that additional metered parking spaces be installed along both sides of Stanton Avenue from south of Lincoln Way to the south line of 200 Stanton Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the request indicates an increasing commercial activity in the area due to the completion of the commercial/residential mixed use high rise that is just being finished at 200 Stanton Avenue; and, WHEREAS,based on the street width,it is not appropriate to install parking meters along Stanton Avenue, however, as a part of the high rise construction, a pull-out was constructed on the east side of Stanton Avenue; and, WHEREAS, this pull-out will accommodate two vehicles and parking meter installation can be accomplished there; and, WHEREAS, in addition, four spaces on Chamberlain Street adjacent to the high rise can be converted to one-hour meters from their current four-hour time; and, WHEREAS, as staff reviewed the parking meter layout in the area, it became apparent that an improvement could be made with the location of a handicap stall; and, WHEREAS,the designated handicap space would provide a much safer situation by relocating it from Lincoln Way to around the corner on Stanton Avenue. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the amendments to the Parking Meter Map that include designating stalls#148 to#151 on Chamberlain Street as one-hour meters(at a rate of$.25/hour),creating two new stalls along Stanton Avenue in the vehicle pull- out adjacent to 200 Stanton Avenue with a one-hour time limit(at a rate of$.25/hour),removing handicap designation from parking space#161 on Lincoln Way,and designating stall#51 on Stanton Avenue as the handicap stall are hereby approved. ADOPTED THIS 271'day of August,2002.
