HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Neighborhood Improvement Projects for 2002/03 RESOLUTION NO. 02-441 RESOLUTION APPROVING EXPENDITURES FOR NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR 2002/03 FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,the City Council has appropriated Local Option Sales Tax revenues to finance the Neighborhood Improvement Program; and, WHEREAS,this year,due to budget constraint,the funding level was reduced from$50,000 to $25,000; and, WHEREAS, five applications were received for a total funding request of$19,002; and, WHEREAS,those projects are Somerset Playground at Crescent Park($2,315), Idaho Court Tree Planting($1,714), Stone Brooke Forest Reclamation ($4,973), Proposed Park Development of City-owned land bounded by Indiana, Idaho,Illinois, and the Union Pacific Railroad track($5,000), and North Park Villa($5,000); and, WHEREAS, the North Park Villa project did not receive any points from the Rating Team based on the fact that both the tennis court and swimming pool are padlocked and not available to the general public; and, WHEREAS,on the Proposed Park Development project,a neighborhood meeting will be held on September 9 at Sawyer School to clarify several issues as there is some confusion among residents concerning what is being requested for the site. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the expenditure of$9,002 for the playground equipment at Somerset's Crescent Park ($2,515), the Idaho Court Tree Planting project($1,714),and the Stone Brooke Forest Reclamation project($4,973) is hereby approved; staff is directed to review the Proposed Park Development project following the neighborhood meeting on September 9 and bring same back for Council consideration; and funding is denied for the North Park Villa project because it does not meet the Program criteria.
