HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Parking regulations in front of Public Library for bookmobile RESOLUTION NO. 02-422 RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF PARKING REGULATIONS IN FRONT OF PUBLIC LIBRARY FOR PURPOSES OF BOOKMOBILE PUBLIC SERVICE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Ames Public Library is doing a major reorganization/move of public services on its first floor from August 29 - September 1, and during that time, the Library building will be closed to patrons; and, WHEREAS, staff is proposing that the Bookmobile be used as a public service outlet; WHEREAS,the best location to allow for stocking materials and responding to customers' requests, as well as providing connections for electric power and access to the Library's computer system,is directly in front of the building in the area that is designated as the 2-minute parking zone; and, WHEREAS, staff is requesting that the City Council suspend enforcement of the 2-minute parking limit in front of the Ames Public Library and allow parking of the Bookmobile in that spot from 8 AM on August 29 thru 5:30 PM on September 1; and, WHEREAS, the 48-hour parking limit will also need to be waived to allow for this. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to suspend parking regulations for the 2-minute parking zone in front of the Ames Public Library and the 48-hour parking limit from 8 AM on August 29 to 5:30 PM on September 1 is hereby approved.
