HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Disposal of 1973 Ward LaFrance Fire Truck RESOLUTION NO. 02-421 RESOLUTION WAIVING PURCHASING POLICY REGARDING DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT AND ACCEPTING OFFER FROM THE FIRE SERVICE TRAINING BUREAU TO PURCHASE A 1973 WARD LAFRANCE FIRE TRUCK FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the City owns a 1973 Ward LaFrance truck, Fleet ID #808, which has been stored at and used by the Fire Service Training Bureau at ISU for some time; and WHEREAS,the Fire Chief and Director of Fleet Services have determined that this truck is no longer needed by the City; and, WHEREAS,the Fire Service Training Bureau has offered to purchase the truck for$1,000; and, WHEREAS, the Director of Fleet Services has determined that the offer from the Fire Service Training Bureau is a fair and reasonable offer; and, WHEREAS,the City's purchasing policy states that equipment no longer required or having no practical use to the City may be disposed of, however, acceptance of a single unsolicited offer requires approval by City Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that a waiver of the City's Purchasing Policy regarding disposal of surplus equipment and the offer from the Fire Service Training Bureau in the amount of$1,000 to purchase the 1973 Ward LaFrance fire truck are hereby accepted.
