HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Grant application for lighting of City auditorium artwork RESOLUTION NO. 02-387 RESOLUTION APPROVING GRANT APPLICATION FOR LIGHTING OF AUDITORIUM ARTWORK FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, in May, the Council approved a grant application to the Iowa Arts Council to add outdoor lighting to Crescendo, the sculpture previously commissioned with sculptor Marc Moulton; and, WHEREAS, early this month, the City was notified that this $1,000 grant application had been denied; and, WHEREAS, with the beginning of a new fiscal year, the Iowa Arts council's mini-grant funding pool has been replenished, and even before the previous application was submitted, Arts Council staff had encouraged the City to reapply for 2002/03 mini-grant funding if the initial application was denied; and, WHEREAS,the Public Art Commission auditorium artwork sub-committee is considering submitting one last mini-grant application for this project,which will be for the full $5,000 needed to add lighting to Crescendo; and, WHEREAS,if this application is unsuccessful,it is likely that the sculpture will be installed without the special lighting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that submittal of a $5,000 Iowa Arts Council mini-grant application for lighting of the auditorium artwork is hereby approved.
