HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 28-E agreements for Ames/Story County Partnership Affordable Housing Program RESOLUTION NO. 02-373 RESOLUTION EXTENDING 28-E AGREEMENTS WITH PARTICIPATING CITIES AND STORY COUNTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE AMES/STORY COUNTY PARTNERSHIP AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,on December 31, 1998,the Iowa Department of Economic Development(IDED) awarded a Local Housing Assistance Program(LHAP)grant in the amount of$400,000 to the City of Ames to establish a Story County Housing Bank to create affordable housing opportunities in Ames and Story County; and, WHEREAS,the Ames/Story County Partnership (ASCP), consisting of Ames, Collins,Colo, Huxley, Maxwell, McCallsburg,Nevada,Zearing, and Story County, was formed; and, WHEREAS,the LHAP was a two-year grant beginning February 1, 1999, with a completion date of January 31, 2001; and, WHEREAS, along with the LHAP grant funds, the partners committed to three years of local match funds to the Story County Housing Bank, and the total budget for the three-year period is $1,139,083; and, WHEREAS, all of the participating cities, except for the City of Huxley, along with Story County, have requested approval from their council and/or board to amend the 28-E agreements with the City of Ames to extend the agreement to June 30, 2003; and, WHEREAS,staff is recommending that the City Council approve the request to extend the 28-E agreements with the cities of Collins, Colo, McCallsburg, Maxwell, Nevada, and Zearing and Story County for one additional year. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, that the extension of the amended 28-E agreements with the participating cities of Collins, Colo, McCallsburg,Maxwell,Nevada,and Zearing and Story County until June 30,2002,in connection with the Ames/Story County Partnership Affordable Housing Program is hereby approved.
