HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street and parking lot closures for Midnight Madness RESOLUTION NO. 02-368 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET AND PARKING LOT CLOSURES AND CHANGES IN PARKING REGULATIONS FOR MIDNIGHT MADNESS EVENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Midnight Madness organizers are requesting street closures on Saturday, July 13,2002,for the Midnight Madness race from 6:00- 11:00 p.m. for the following: Main Street from Kellogg Avenue to Northwestern Avenue; Kellogg Avenue from Main Street to Sixth Street; Sixth Street from Douglas Avenue to Clark Avenue (one lane only); Fifth Street from Douglas Avenue to Clark Avenue; Douglas Avenue from Fifth Street to Sixth Street; Clark Avenue from Sixth Street to Main Street;Northwestern Avenue from Main Street to Sixth Street;and,Sixth Street from Northwestern Avenue to Elwood Drive; and, WHEREAS, the organization is also requesting the closure of Clark Avenue from Sixth Street to Fifth Street(from 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.,July 14) and the east City Hall parking lot(from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., July 14) for post race activities; and, WHEREAS, suspension of parking enforcement in the Downtown Commercial Business District as well as permission to hood parking meters on Main Street from Burnett Avenue to Pearle Street and on Fifth Street from City Hall to Douglas Avenue from 5:00 - 11:00 p.m. on July 13, 2002, is further being requested. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the suspension of parking enforcement in the Downtown Commercial Business District on July 13,2002,and the above-mentioned street and parking lot closures on July 13-July 14,2002,are hereby approved for the Midnight Madness Road Race Event.
