RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FOR
SUSPENSION OF PARKING METER ENFORCEMENT FOR
"TASTE OF CAMPUSTOWN" EVENT ON JULY 25, 2002
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS,the Campustown Action Association(CAA)is hosting the First Annual"Taste
of Campustown" on July 25, 2002, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, the stores will have displays on one-half of the sidewalks and many activities
are planned for the evening; and,
WHEREAS, the CAA is requesting a blanket temporary obstruction permit for the
Campustown Business District activities and suspension of parking enforcement from 4:00 -
6:00 p.m. to allow customers to park for free; and,
WHEREAS, the free parking will be in the City parking lots in the Campustown Business
District and include metered parking along the following streets:Lincoln Way from Sheldon Avenue
to Lynn Avenue;Welch Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Knapp Street;Chamberlain Street;Hunt
Street; Hayward Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Hunt Street; Sheldon Avenue from Lincoln
Way south to Chamberlain Street;and,Lynn Avenue from Lincoln Way south to Chamberlain Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request to suspend parking enforcement in the Campustown Business District from 4:00 -
6:00 p.m. on July 25, 2002, for the "Taste of Campustown" event is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 25th day of June, 2002.
